If your facility ships hazardous materials, including hazardous wastes, you may be required to obtain a dot registration number from the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), part of the Department of Transportation (DOT) by July 1st. You can choose a registration length of 1, 2 or 3 years.
